Château de La Dauphine – White 2020

Château de La Dauphine – White 2020

Blanc2020

As August slowly came to an end, under a still blazing sun, La Dauphine’s team gathered in the early morning to pick the white grapes by hand for only the second time. The plot covers almost a hectare and is planted with 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Sémillon, and has Organic Agriculture certification.

The grapes have benefited from the excellent end-of-summer weather, which fortunately has not been too dry. The result is a perfectly healthy vineyard and a stable yield estimated at 500 bottles again. Blanc de La Dauphine is produced in very small quantities!

As soon as the vinification process begins, the Sauvignon Blanc expresses citrus aromas (grapefruit and lemon) while the Sémillon offers sweet notes of yellow fruit such as peaches. These aromas, still reserved, should reveal themselves more fully by the end of fermentation. In any case, the balance of sugar and acidity is ideal, and we are promised a lively, refreshing white wine.

One third of the wine will now be aged in new barrels (including fermentation) and the rest in stainless-steel vats. Ageing will take place on the lees to give the wine richness and volume.

Blanc de La Dauphine 2020, certified organic, presents a similar style to the first vintage. Already standing out due to its distinctive bottle, this is an elegant, generous white wine with beautifully balanced acidity, that can be kept for 5 to 6 years.
