Beyond managing the vineyard with ethical and nature-friendly methods, and caring for people through organic and biodynamic practices, we wish to go further with a comprehensive commitment. Thus, since July 1st, Château de La Dauphine has been officially certified under the Bordeaux wines Environmental Management System.
What is the EMS?
Implemented in 2010, the EMS is a collective environmental initiative across an entire region, based on voluntary participation. It preserves the environment by improving vineyard management while keeping the company’s operations, employee safety, and societal expectations at the heart of its concerns.
The Objective?
To support the environmental transition and accelerate the evolution of practices in the Bordeaux vineyards.
What are our commitments as part of the EMS?
- Preserve water resources
- Reduce our energy consumption and dependence, and thus our carbon footprint
- Sort our waste to enhance its recovery
- Limit the use of inputs through our indicators and research and development of best practices
- Preserve biodiversity, sensitive areas, and enhance our wine-growing landscape
- Preserve the living and working environment of people within the estate and neighboring communities
- Engage our employees through the implementation of company training programs, field visits, and reorganization of working methods
- Manage the company sustainably by strengthening the pooling of efforts and investments
- Innovate in environmental preservation
- Strengthen the dissemination and sharing of experience
Today, 18% of the Bordeaux vineyards are committed to this initiative by applying the ISO 14001 standard on which the EMS is based.
