EMS & HEV certification

In addition to taking an environmentally-friendly, ethical approach to vineyard management with organic and biodynamic methods, we wanted to go further with a broader level of commitment. Château de La Dauphine thus became an officially certified member of the Bordeaux Wine Environmental Management System on 1 July 2018.

What is the EMS?
Initiated in 2010, the EMS is a collective environmental approach for an entire region that operates on a voluntary basis. It aims to preserve the environment by improving vineyard management while at the same time taking into account the operation of businesses, the safety of employees and societal aspects.

What is its objective?
To support environmental transition and accelerate changes in practices in Bordeaux’s vineyards.

What are our commitments as part of the EMS?
1. To preserve water resources
2. To reduce our consumption and energy dependence and thus our carbon footprint
3. To sort waste for more effective recycling
4. To reduce the use of inputs on the basis of indicators and research and development of best practices
5. To preserve biodiversity and vulnerable areas, and create an optimal expression of the winegrowing landscape
6. To preserve the living and work environments of people on the property and living nearby
7. To involve employees through the implementation of a training plan, field visits and the reorganization of work methods
8. To manage the property in a sustainable manner, developing joint initiatives and investment
9. To innovate with regard to preserving the environment
10. To develop the spreading and sharing of experience

18% of Bordeaux’s vineyards are currently committed to this approach, with the application of ISO 14001, on which the EMS is based.tal excellence.
