Ch\u00e2teau de La Dauphine thus became an officially certified member of the Bordeaux Wine <strong>E<\/strong>nvironmental <strong>M<\/strong>anagement <strong>S<\/strong>ystem on 1 July 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the EMS?<\/strong><br \/>\nInitiated in 2010, the EMS is a collective\u00a0<strong>environmental<\/strong>\u00a0approach for an entire region that operates on a voluntary basis. It aims to preserve the\u00a0<strong>environment<\/strong>\u00a0by improving <strong>vineyard<\/strong> management while at the same time taking into account the operation of businesses, the safety of employees and societal aspects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is its objective?<\/strong><br \/>\nTo support <strong>environmental <\/strong>transition and accelerate changes in practices in <strong>Bordeaux\u2019s vineyards.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What are our commitments as part of the EMS?<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>1<\/strong>. To preserve water resources<br \/>\n<strong>2<\/strong>.\u00a0To reduce our consumption and energy dependence and thus our carbon footprint<br \/>\n<strong>3<\/strong>.\u00a0To sort waste for more effective recycling<br \/>\n<strong>4<\/strong>.\u00a0To reduce the use of inputs on the basis of indicators and research and development of best practices<br \/>\n<strong>5.<\/strong>\u00a0To preserve biodiversity and vulnerable areas, and create an optimal expression of the winegrowing landscape<br \/>\n<strong>6.<\/strong>\u00a0To preserve the living and work environments of people on the property and living nearby<br \/>\n<strong>7.<\/strong>\u00a0To involve employees through the implementation of a training plan, field visits and the reorganization of work methods<br \/>\n<strong>8<\/strong>.\u00a0To manage the property in a sustainable manner, developing joint initiatives and investment<br \/>\n<strong>9<\/strong>.\u00a0To innovate with regard to preserving the environment<br \/>\n<strong>10<\/strong>.\u00a0To develop the spreading and sharing of experience<\/p>\n<p>18% of Bordeaux\u2019s vineyards are currently committed to this approach, with the application of ISO 14001, on which the EMS is based.<strong>tal excellence.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In addition to taking an environmentally-friendly, ethical approach to vineyard management with organic and biodynamic methods, we wanted to go further with a broader level of commitment.
